GAME DESCRIPTION
Risk is a strategic game for two to six players. The standard version is played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth, divided into forty-two territories, grouped into six continents. Players control armies with which they attempt to capture territories from other players. In his/her turn each player can place reinforcements on the board, attack countries under control by other players and move a limited number of units. Battles are decided by rolling dice. The objective of the game is to conquer (parts of) the world or eliminate other players. For more information see this link.
CUBE TIP: Control game time
CUBE mode | Game timer |
Advised time | 90 minutes for each game |
Use the game timer to define the maximum duration of the game. When the time is up you can determine the winner based on for instance; the most countries owned, the most continents owned, the most victory cards collected or the largest army owned.
CUBE TIP: Turn based challenge
CUBE mote | Move counter |
Advised time | N/A |
The CUBE turn counter mode registers the number of turns each player performed. When playing Risk this can be used to add an extra turn based challenge to the game. You can try to complete your objective in a limited number of turns or take an extra challenge and bet on:
When completing this extra challenge on time you get a reward, for instance 5 extra units or 2 victory cards.
When failing this challenge you lose 5 units or 2 victory cards.
Other suggestions:
Game Timer:
Every player has a total playing time. If the player has no time left, attacks become impossible and the player gets no more new armies. The player stays on the board and can be attacked. The game is over when all players are out of time or a player has reached his/her goal. The most armies win when everybody is out of time. A very good way to play a "blitz" game (e.g. 1 hour).
Game Timer
The player that runs out of time loses.
Game Timer:
The player that runs out of time does not get new armies. Another option is to make it impossible to use the cards.
Move Timer:
Every player gets 30-60 seconds per turn. This prevents long attack sessions.
Move Timer plus Save:
The time for each turn can be saved for a longer attack session later.
